CNO launching of brand new information videos on how to reduce loss of fishing gear and ghost fishing
Clean Nordic Oceans has identified lost fishing gear from recreational fishermen as a challenging area in almost all the Nordic countries. To face this challenge, CNO has made information videos to tell about ghost fishing, and how to prevent it form happening.
CNO have spent over a year to map challenges and possible solution about ghost fishing, marine litter, reception, handling and recycling from both commercial and recreational fishery. One of the first things that became clear was the challenges of lost gear from recreational fishermen and especially how to reach them with information and how to prevent it from happening.
Therefore, Clean Nordic Oceans made several short videos for social media to show recreational fishermen, but also others, the danger of ghost fishing, the common reasons why gear is lost and how to recover lost gear from the seabed. The videos were finished a couple of weeks ago and showed for the first time at CNO workshop at Runde. Now, the videos are released for everyone to see, and are available on English, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish.
