CNO launching brand new videos putting awareness into focus.

No-one knows exactly how much marine litter that comes from fishing activities, but we know it is quite a lot. The pieces can cause harm in several ways and in order to raise awareness around the issue of pieces of fishing gear, Clean Nordic Oceans has made a video about it.

No-one knows exactly how much marine litter that is fishery related, but we know it is quite a lot. This is often smaller pieces of fishing equipment like sein, trawl and rope pieces that due to various reasons ends up in the ocean. These parts pose a threat in terms of entanglement, entering an animal stomach, over time as micro plastics and mush more.

Clean Nordic Oceans (CNO) identified lost fishing gear from recreational fishermen as a challenging area in almost all the Nordic countries and that it is mostly due to lack of knowledge. To face this challenge, CNO made five information videos in 2018. The video was to tell the recreational fishermen about ghost fishing, how to prevent it from happening and what to do when fishing gear already lost. Click HERE to see the moves.

When it comes to commercial fishermen, they have the knowledge, but not necessarily awareness of everyday routines and the potential consequences of pieces of fishing gear which entering the ocean. As a result, CNO contacted an environmentally conscious fisherman and asked if he would help CNO creating a awareness move with commercial fishermen as the targeted audience.

The movie are made in English, Norwegian, Danish and Swedish and the English version was release on a CNO conference in Gothenburg late November 2019. All of the video is now released and available. In other for them to have an effect, they need to be spread, and CNO would really appreciate if you would help us do so.
